THE AIMS AND GOALS OF THE FRIENDS OF APHRODISIAS

The Friends of Aphrodisias aims to support continuing excavation and research at Aphrodisias and to raise awareness of this extraordinary site. The website is intended to be a resource for Friends to access information about Aphrodisias and to find news and information about the association. All feedback is welcome. 

The Friends of Aphrodisias has the following principal aims and goals:

 

  • to support continuing excavations and research
  • to disseminate the findings of the archeologists
  • to raise public awareness about the value and significance of cultural heritage and the need for its conservation
  • to engage local communities in the protection and management of archaeological sites and artifacts (community-based archaeology, site stewardship programs). 
  • to provide educational opportunities for students studying in the fields of archeology, history and architecture. Opportunities that provide scholarships, internships and other academic awards and recognitions for students who continue to enrich and  generate interest in the legacy of the Turkish Heritage including sites, museum and other cultural accomplishments.
